Other News 

BJJ legend and 4th degree black belt Octavio Couto came to Pollaro’s Martial Arts to conduct a Brazilian jiu-jitsu seminar.  During the seminar, Octavio, along with Nick’s instructor Patrick Robinson, promoted Nick to black belt.  

Nick has been practicing BJJ for 11 years and it was an honor to be promoted by Octavio and Nick’s long time friend Patrick.

Other News 

BJJ Black Belt Patrick Robinson came to Plainfield and conducted a three hour seminar.  After the seminar, Patrick striped many of Nick's students and made six promotions.

Several students from Pollaro’s Martial Arts competed at the Hoosier Open. 

John Glover (Masters Division/Blue Belt) took gold in Ultra Heavy Weight Division. 

Josh O’Brien (Adult Division/Blue Belt) competed for the first time as a blue belt.  In his first match, he got a submission just over 1 minute into the match with a triangle choke.

Jaron Reynolds (Kids Division/White Belt) also won gold, winning his first match 24 to 0 and second match 9 to 0.  This was Jaron’s first BJJ tournament. 

Ken Warren (Masters Division/White Belt) took a silver medal in his first BJJ tournament.  Ken submitted his first opponent, battled his way to the gold medal match, and came up just short in a tough, close match. 

Craig Edmondson (Adult Division/White Belt) took home a bronze medal after some very tough matches. 

Chase Pershing, Kenny Rose, Ted Huynh, and Zoran Laliic (white belts) all competed in their first BJJ tournament.  All did well and will no doubt be competing in the future.
